I cannot believe that we are in 2020 already, but did anyone else feel like January has lasted forever? Honestly, so glad that we are in February.
What a crazy month it has been for K-POP, and honestly I have been living for it. This one has been tough to organise into top five if I’m honest with you guys, so I’m ever so curious to see what you guys would of done for January and your top picks!
So, let’s get into it.
5. TAEYEON – 태연 ‘내게 들려주고 싶은 말 (Dear Me)
To start of January, I really enjoyed Taeyeon’s new full album repackage, but this song specifically. I love how positive the song is and the actual melody is so calming yet energising, does that make sense to anyone else?
4. SUPER JUNIOR – 슈퍼주니어 ‘2YA2YAO!’
They came, they conquered, they won. Honestly, I couldn’t be more proud and happy with all these boys have put into this. They all look so good, and if you haven’t yet listened to this song, you’re really missing out I promise you.
3. DUSTIN – BURN
I have been waiting for this group to debut so I could talk about them for a while! The build up to their debut has been amazing, and the support from their international fan base has been crazy. The song may take a few listens for some people, but it’s a grower and I really really love it. If I could bring these boys to the UK I so would! Their vocals are fab, rap is totally on point and over all I have been hyping these boys up on all my socials!
2. ATEEZ (에이티즈) – ‘Answer’
Were we expecting anything else other than an absolute master piece? The answer is no. ATEEZ have once again come and completely smashed it out the bag. I have read some crazy theories about the music video and everything and honestly I love the creativity. Also, the lightstick is an absolute master piece. The song itself is nice and energetic and the music video is so well shot/directed. Are any of my readers going to their tour? If so, which stop?
1. SF9 – ‘Good Guy’
Watching these boy get wins for this absolute banger was all I could of asked for, maybe I even teared up. This song personally really speaks to me, kind of reminds me of older Kpop songs. It has been on repeat, both versions of the album bought and overall just rate this a strong 11/10. It’s been hinted that these boys will return to Europe, please pray that they’ll still include the UK!
I am ever so sorry about how late this blog post is, settling back into university after Christmas break off has been kind of hard, but look out for Monsta X’s album review and February comebacks soon!
When will I ever post on time? Can I maybe get away by saying it’s been a lot to deal with in the fandoms this past month? I actually wrote this update a few days ago, it’s just uploading that I’ve deffered. I’ll say what I have to when it gets to the right song.
5. Youngjae – Forever Love
I’m forever thankful that this man is making music by himself. He never disappoints and his music is right up my street. Definitely even prefer this one to his last comeback, which is a lot.
4. ATEEZ – Wonderland
I know what you’re thinking. ATEEZ at number 4? Are you okay? Now listen, this comeback definitely SLAPS. The title track for sure is one of their best yet, but the rest of the album I’m not sure how keen I am personally. These rookies stole my heart back then and they still have it, can’t believe it’s already been a year since I’ve stanned.
3. VAV – Poison
Can I just say how proud I am? Not only is this song a proper tune but they’re also coming and touring Europe again. I am so excited to see them in London, if any of you are going and want to meet just let me know!
2. Bz-Boys – YESSIR
I’ve stumbled on this group by accident and I already want to stan just from this one song? Honestly I’ve had this song on replay and I highly recommend you guys give this group a chance! (If anyone stans and wants to teach me please do!).
1. Monsta X – Follow
Now this is a difficult one. I mean this comeback should of been one of Monsta X’s best comebacks to date. Everyone loved it, side tracks were amazing. But the fandom was so hurt by news and how everything was dealt with. Never the less we’ve supported and got wins, but we’re all still hurting as we remain unsure on the future of the group. Monsta X is OT7 in our hearts, and I can do nothing but support the boys, pray for the best and wait to see what the future holds. Please, don’t leave our boys.
So better late than never, if anyone needs a chat please do find me on my twitter @ SunlitYoungjae.
So, for the first time and probably my only time, I have ordered with MyMusicTaste. I don’t think it’s worth it with it getting stuck in customs, when I could easily avoid that by buying from other places.
Everything you need to know is in the video anyway, look forward to more album unboxing, I have GOT7 and Monster X albums preordered!
First of all, am so sorry about how behind I have been. Life has gotten in the way then I was on holiday. Soon you can expect: July comebacks, SF9 in London and Monsta X in London. For now, here are the June comebacks that I have been living for.
This month is lacking girl groups/artists, however my personal top 5 are as follows.
5. NCT DREAM X HRVY – Don’t Need Your Love
Honestly, everyone was so apprehensive when this collaboration was announced, but it is safe to say that it is such a catchy song. I am so impressed and it did not take that long for me to adore it.
4. Yesung – Pink Magic
Seeing him again feels great, this song has been in my playlist for some time and definitely has been played (like a lot)! Made me so happy to see Kevin Woo supporting him too.
3. Zelo – Questions
I was so excited for this!!! Melo never disappoints and I really hope that all of the B.A.P boys continue to show us work so we can support them.
2. Monsta X ft French Montana – Who Do You Love?
Now this is another collaboration that has had lot of different views, and yeah it is all in English but it is a bop we cannot deny it. #wherearechangkyunslines
1. ATEEZ – Wave
ATEEZ just keep amazing me. These boys will always have my support and they are growing so quickly. It’s a proper summer jam and it is safe to say I miss them!
So here we go, 5 June comebacks that have made my month amazing. What have been your favourites?
The wait was finally over, the 3rd of April arrived and so did ATEEZ. The Korean pop group consists of 8 talented members that were ready to make this event at the O2 Kentish Town venue a night everyone would remember. Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho debuted on the 24th of October 2018, however had a pre debut show in which the fans could get to know their personalities and watch them take on challenges. The group grew quickly in popularity and within half a year of their debut they announced a highly demanded world tour.

The screams of fans filled the arena as soon as the lights dimmed, filling it with excitement and appreciation as soon as the first beat dropped. Their performance bought energetic choreography with powerful beats and impressive vocals. Unlike most Western artists, Korean artists focus heavily on bringing dance and vocals together and showing their well practiced routines.
‘Say My Name’ is their most recent release with over 19 million views on YouTube already. During the concert the fans supported their performance by singing fan chants at designated times and waving their light sticks in time to the beat. It’s clear to see that everyone there was impressed by the synchronised dancing, myself included.

To make the boys feel even more welcomed, a group of fans got together to work on a fan project which was able to come through thanks to donations and their hard work. I spoke to one of the organisers Weronika Janczak from @ateezlondon (Twitter) to get more information on how the whole fan project came about.
Weronika is a 17-year-old student from Taunton who has been into ATEEZ since their pre debut and has followed them ever since, biasing three members; Jongho, San and Wooyoung. She said: “We had three fan projects running, one for Seonghwa’s birthday, one on which we collaborated with a Korean fan site and one as thank you gifts for fans that donated to our first two projects.” The first banner was held during the time that the audience sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him, showing their love and support.
The second project were banners that were held during a song called ‘Promise’, with a design of all of the boys and a map to show how far they have travelled just to perform for their international fans. Weronika added: “The banners were supposed to get held up during Promise, however not everyone was able to do that, but the boys saw them which let the project still be successful.”
Lastly, there were donation gifts for those who donated money to make this project possible, which consisted of stickers, a thank you banner and a wristband. Weronika told me that: “We had an artist sketch out the stickers as well as one side of the donation banner. The wristband and the remaining side of it was designed by me.” Those who were unable to pick up their donation rewards will be able to claim them through the post.
In order to be able to collect donations and get their banners printed, they had to heavily focus on getting the word out by using social media and multiple accounts to advertise what they were hoping to achieve through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Their fans, also known as ‘Atiny’, started queuing outside the venue in the early hours of Wednesday morning to secure their place as close to the stage as possible. The day consisted of constant weather changes, leaving the fans cold and wet however that did not kill the mood of excitement to get into the venue and see their favourite band.
The show consisted of a lot of interactions with the audience, including a Q&A where each member had to do a challenge set by fans over Instagram using the hashtag #AskAteezInLondon. Those whose answers were selected won a signed polaroid of the member who chose their request!

ATEEZ continue their world tour experience all over Europe, stopping at a total of 10 destinations, with fresh content for each stop to make the shows slightly different to one another.
Their setlist for this world tour consisted of all their songs as well as dance covers and random k-pop dance mash up. If you had the chance, which song would you like to see live by ATEEZ?
The powerful rookie group is slowly taking over the k-pop industry, winning the hearts of thousands of fan girls and boys. Overall, ATEEZ is a group to definitely keep up with and they have delivered a night that I for sure will never forget.
Word definitions: Rookie group – a group that has recently debut in the k-pop industry. Bias/es – a fans favourite member/s. K-pop – Korean pop.
